Damn.
The Baltimore Ravens season and chance at going to the Super Bowl ended on a missed field goal.
That was heartbreaking.
But my heart isn’t broken because I won’t be able to cheer for my favorite team, my birthplace of Baltimore’s team, in the Super Bowl this year.
My heart breaks for the players who fought so hard, through the aches, pains, and nagging injuries week after week, only to watch their dreams go wide left.
As they say, “You win some, you lose some.”
Still really, really sucks that this one was in the “lose some” category.
But I am very happy that the team I love has gone to the playoffs the past 4 seasons, and I don’t think this will be their last. When it comes to us going to the playoffs I would, to borrow a word from Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven”, also the inspiration for our team’s name, never say “nevermore”.
And although I know that they’ll never read this, I’d still like to say, “To the Ravens: I thank all of you for yet another great season and post-season, and I’m proud to be from a city with such a great football team. And, as always, can’t wait to see you next year.”
